The longest crochet project of my life….

by - January 20, 2011

Some of you might remember this picture from 2010.  It was my gift to my husband last Christmas.

I’m pleased to announce that with only a week to spare his gift was finally finished for this past Christmas!

I’m not going to lie to you.  Crocheting something this size and then felting it is a daunting project.  Before it was felted it pretty much covered our bed.  The best/worst compliment I got was from my youngest son who took one look at it and said: “I want one too!” Oye.  Maybe for his 18th birthday.

  2. it looks awesome! I do, however, feel your pain about creating things for felting. Usually lovely results but lots of yarn and prefelting the project seems to go on forever.

  6. I am just impressed that you finished it! I always get all excited about a project. Have a hard time seeing them through. It looks awesome and I can tell you worked hard on it!

Wondering, have any idea for revamping a rocking chair. The cloth piece that is supposed to hold the cushion is shot but I can't bear to part with it. Good piece of furniture otherwise, just have no creative groove here lately. *sigh*

  8. Cathy ~ Have you ever done braided rugs? You just take scraps of fabric, braid them into a large braid and then stitch it all together into a rug shape. One of those would look great on a rocking chair seat!
Allie~I'm not sure if a 25 lb, 100% wool poncho would be useful for someone who lives in the TROPICS!! LOL
